Dr. Donald K. Allen is an established veterinarian in the Greater Youngstown area who has recently filed to run for Ohio's 6th Congressional District.  A graduate of the University of Illinois with a M.S. in Nutrition and a DVM, Donald Allen runs a successful veterinary practice in Boardman and is actively involved with the Wright Patterson Airforce Base as a Public Health Officer.  He first enlisted with the U.S. Airforce in 1967.

Dr. Donald Allen is committed to bringing back jobs in the the 6th District and advocates for a responsible energy policy, healthcare reform that is not a healthcare takeover, and a strong economy.  He believes the best days for America are ahead of it and that we cannot keep contuinuing down the same wrong path Congress is leading this nation down. 

Dr. Donald Allen has received various local awards and recognitions; in 2007 he was presented with the Ohio Animal Health Foundation Distinguished Service Award and in 2005 he received the Community Builder's Award "for outstanding service," presented by the Mason's Temple on the Hill Lodges in Youngstown, OH. He is an active member of Argus Lodge No. 545, The Youngstown Torch Club, Youngstown Rifle and Pistol Club, American Veterinary Medical Association, director of Companion Animal Protection Society, and formerly served on the board of directors for Angels for Animals in Canfield, OH.

In addition to his community involvement he is an amateur historian; in 2001 he wrote and published "Tarawa - the Aftermath," which recounts the events of the assault on Tarawa Atoll in Nov. of 1943. ( http://www.tarawatheaftermath.com/ )

He is married to his loving wife of seventeen years, Paula. They have four children and four cats.
